Poured from a 22 oz. bottle, dated 051917, a clear, pale yellow under a one-inch thick white head with large bubbles which fades to the rim and leaves spotty lace. Aromas of lemon and tangerine citrus, floral, candied melon sweetness. Flavor is juicy passion fruit and mildly dank. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Finishes dry, bitter and resiny. Nice.

L: Straw Colored body with a 1 inch head that quickly reduces to a frothy ring in the glass. a swirl gives the glass a nice lace.
S: Melon/grapefruit maybe some honey sweetness and a touch of boozeyness.
T: Melon comes forward with a a bit of citrus bitterness. Gives way to a honey sweetness and faint booze.
F: Nice carb some tongue coating not very dry and a tad of warmth from the ABV.
O: I'm a fan of this. A very well executed Double IPA. I the think the faint warmth from the alcohol gives it a little more weight and is much preferred over a more malty balance.

22 oz bomer dated 051917. Fresh!
Pours a straw to gold hue with a fluffy white head that rises quickly and recedes within a minute or so. Leaves a thin, scattered ring of small clumped bubbles. Mild lacing.
Nose leads off with pithy grapefruit that's almost harsh, and them some pine. Not getting much more than that.
Taste has a bit more going on. Again, the flavor's initially pithy grapefruit, then more subtle citrus peeks through. Getting a floral hint of lemon blossom, some honey tones represent, and tone things down a bit. Pine comes through too. But then it comes back to a mix of the grapefruit and bitter pine. A tad of alcohol warmth too.
Body is a tad slight. Carbonation hangs along for the ride.
Overall, I'd like to see the hop notes meld together a bit more agreeably. Also, I'd like to posit that a tad more malt backbone would improve this DIPA.

Poured from 22oz bottled into snifter. Bottled on May 19th 2017 aka YESTERDAY.
L: Quite light for a DIPA, a hazy gold. Finger width white head dissipates rather quickly but I was quite gentle.
S: Strong citrus and pine hops with an herbal backnote. Some honey as well. Smells absolutely delectable and fresh as expected. Grapefruit, tangerine and orange.
T: Follows the nose very well, starts with the citrus turning to pine and finishing with an herbal hop note. There is a decent malt backbone but is outshined by the hops. Not necessarily in a bad way. A touch of booze as well. Very fresh flavors.
F: Medium body, crisp, hop residuals on the tongue, semi-dry finish.
O: I have not had a beer from El Segundo nor Green Cheek however they excelled at making this beer. I am impressed with the freshness of delivery they accomplished as well. This is a very good DIPA and I will definitely be on the lookout from more offerings from both Brewers.
