Bomber from Tavour. Pours out a medium golden, slightly hazy, small cap of creamy head. Aroma is fruity, minor malt and hops notes. Taste brings a bit bitterness, orange peel, a little bit of sweetness. Wonderful feel.

Now that I have begun really diving into the Bottle backlog here at Chez Woody, I am unstoppable! Yes, it means suspending The CANQuest (tm) for the moment, but the thought of being rid of these pesky bottles for once & for all is so heartening that I almost do not have words. These next bunch were all purchases through Tavour & as I have said repeatedly, I have no real beef with them. It was their inflexible local shipper + the continual adding to the backlog that led me to part ways.

From the Bottle: "The Independent India Pale Ale"; "The drive and passion of the inspired men and women behind Independent Craft breweries is what gives us the diverse beer-scape that we enjoy today. It matters who brews your beer. Cheers America! Support Local & INDEPENDENT."; "Smell[,] Drink[,] Repeat".

Once more, I started with a Pop! of the cap, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line pour. I was deeply heartened as it foamed up to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention, leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was a solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled very olde skool - PNW pine & grapefruit hops with a caramel malt backbone. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was so pine/eucalyptus/ minty that I was initially stunned, sitting back in stark shock! I have not had a beer like this in ages! Usually, I am forced to put up with citrus or worse, tropical fruits, but it was as if they had me in mind with this one! My budding headache began to subside, my allergy-ridden sinuses cleared & I actually felt it behind my eyes. Ever use Vicks' VapoRub? This exploded with that kind of intensity! My eyes watered uncontrollably as the cool, dry, minty finish left me gasping for air & reaching for my asthma inhaler. YMMV.

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass

Misc.: Bottled on June 27, 2018

Picked this up on July 4 on a trip to Bine & Vine, specifically going there for this beer. Bottle description read, “The drive and passion of the inspired men and women behind Independent Craft breweries is what gives us the diverse beer-scape that we enjoy today. It matters who brews your beer. Cheers America! Support Local & INDEPENDENT.” Hops mentioned were Huell Melon, Idaho 7 and Citra, two of my least favorite in Huell Melon and Idaho 7. Hoping El Segundo could make it work for me.

Poured a clear golden color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at a fast speed. Average watery lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled better than I thought it would. In order got those Huell Melon up front, followed by dank Idaho 7 and Citra. Also strawberry, caramel malt, melon, green leaf, herbal, lime and ruby red grapefruit. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted at least as good as the nose. Got Huell Melon, strawberry, caramel malt, Citra, melon, herbal, green leaf, lime, ruby red grapefruit and some Idaho 7. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This one grew on me as it went down. Huell Melon dominated, but mixed well with the Citra and Idaho 7. (Overall - 4.00)

Happy 4th of July everyone!!! Poured from a 22-ounce bottle, dated 062618, a clear pale golden under a solid one-inch thick white head which leaves clumpy and spotty lace. Aromas of citrus fruits (oranges and tangerines), herbal/floral and fruity. Flavor is well balanced with citrus and malts. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Finishes clean with mild bitterness and dryness. Cheers to INDEPENDENCE.
