Much can be said about the environment in which you spend your time dealing with the daily grind we call a “work day.” The most coveted of work environments are the ones with an office window. But when the view from your office is mere feet from the warm sand and cool ocean of the West Coast, the daily grind involves much more than pushing pencils and shuffling papers. The view is miraculous, but it’s not for enjoyment, as you are the protector of those you watch over from your tower. The image of the lifeguard tower is synonymous with the West Coast, just as is the IPA. And as you sit back and bask in the sunshine of this Loral-soaked beer, raise the can and say “cheers” to those that make sure a day at the beach is nothing more than fun in the sun.

Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.39
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 16, 2020
Consumed: Dec. 24, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Nov. 17, 2020
Grabbed this and way too much other stuff on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Picked it up without even looking at ratings on Untappd and Beer Advocate because it was El Segundo. Their website labeled this as “Much can be said about the environment in which you spend your time dealing with the daily grind we call a “work day.” The most coveted of work environments are the ones with an office window. Poured a light golden clear color with three fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled candied lemon, orange creamsicle, orange blossom, peach, floral, herbal, menthol, pine, lime and lingering tea. Big Loral, followed by Idaho 7 and dry Centennial late. Didn’t like it as much going down. Much of the same from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted Loral, candied lemon, tea, orange creamsicle, orange blossom, peach, Idaho 7, herbal, menthol, pine, lime, Centennial, bitter soap, floral and peppery spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, soapy finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Was back and forth on a few categories, but this was very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)

It’s nice when a single IPA comes to that party, you know? Kind of like when a hottie shows up to a sausage fest, Raul is into it. Overall, this one is just clean and smooth like Frank Sinatra after a hot shower - no more, no less. There is a bit of sweetness in the end that I’m not a fan of, but again, it’s a nice compliment if you are into that sort of thang.
Peace.
