Want to get away? If a small, tucked-away beach town is what you’re looking for, then you should VISIT EL SEGUNDO! Located just south of LAX, it has all the charms of “Anytown, USA,” with access to miles of beautiful sand and surf. While you’re here, be sure to check out El Segundo’s very own El Segundo Brewing Company and The Slice & Pint for some of the best beers and pizza Southern California has to offer. All this, with a nice touch of nostalgic Americana, it’s no wonder this little slice of heaven is called “Mayberry.”

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 11, 2021
Consumed: June 11, 2021
Misc.: Canned on March 8, 2021
Went to Windmill Farms to grab some stuff for Chad and $113 later I had way too much beer. Had heard good things about the “Postcard” series so picked up three of them today as I already had one at home. Unfortunately I didn’t see the March 8 canned on date of this one and another March date of another, so getting those out of the way. I usually like to have my IPAs within a month and two months top, so this was a little out of my comfort zone at just over (three days) three months old. Poured a medium yellow clear color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass. Outstanding uneven layered foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Vic Secret jumped out on the nose but Simcoe was right behind. Also pine, herbal, menthol, lemon, grapefruit rind and hints of pineapple. A little better out of the can with the addition of lime, kind of reminding me of Sprite soda. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Still pretty fresh though, which was a bit surprising. In order got Vic Secret, spicy black pepper, bitter aspirin, pine, Simcoe, herbal, menthol, earthy grain, onion, lemon-lime zest, Sprite soda, grapefruit rind and hints of pineapple. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)
A really nice beer. Glad I picked up a can and I look forward to trying the rest in the series. (Overall - 4.00)

Clear orangey amber brew with plenty of foam in the Duvel tulip. Hops are listed as Vic Secret and Simcoe. Aroma of grapes, cedar in the nose. Flavors of resins, plum, with a strong lemony finish.
A good deal of malty sweetness. Plentifully hopped-- maybe a little over-hopped-- and plenty bitter with grapefruit rind in the aftertaste. Quite sippable, though. Another excellent brew in the 10th Anniversary postcard Series. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market. Dated 03/08/21 on the bottom.

Like Cleopatra fresh out off the Nile, this one is pretty clean. Yeah, it’s all West Coast like a Maury Wills stolen base - I’m talking beautifully ripe and tropical. Overall, it’s pretty damn good, but not great. I’m thinking Elizabeth Taylor as Cleo, not Vivian Leigh. Maybe one day, El Segundo. One day...
