If you’re looking for a “locals only” surf spot on your visit, then you need to “BRAVE THE S-PIPE!” Affectionately named for exactly what you think it is, these beautiful A-Frame waves are created by this artificial reef but fear not, this s-pipe is 5-miles long! With surf suitable for all boards and experience levels, and a year round water rating of “A+,” the only thing you really have to brave are the waves themselves!" So a bunch of nothing.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $3.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 11, 2021
Consumed: June 11, 2021
Misc.: Canned on March 30, 2021

Went to Windmill Farms to grab some stuff for Chad and $113 later I had way too much beer. Had heard good things about the “Postcard” series so picked up three of them today as I already had one at home. Unfortunately I didn’t see the March 30 canned on date on this one and a March 8 date of another, so getting those out of the way. I usually like to have my IPAs within a month and two months top, so this was a little out of my comfort zone. El Segundo’s website called it "If you’re looking for a “locals only” surf spot on your visit, then you need to “BRAVE THE S-PIPE!” Affectionately named for exactly what you think it is, these beautiful A-Frame waves are created by this artificial reef but fear not, this s-pipe is 5-miles long! Hops mentioned were Galaxy, Citra and Amarillo.

Poured a light yellow clear color with three fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Galaxy jumped out on the nose with Citra way back and Amarillo even further. Also got passion fruit, trash, peach, apricot, tangerine, orange peel, pine and grapefruit rind. About as good from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted better than the nose. Just a solid IPA. In order got Galaxy, peach, passion fruit, mango, tangerine, orange peel, Citra, Amarillo, pine, grapefruit rind, hints of pineapple and lingering spice. Did not taste that 8.8 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Clean, slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Another solid West Coast IPA from El Segundo. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Clear golden brew with plenty of foam in the tall stout glass. Intense aroma of lime and grapefruit peel. Clean flavors, strong, but not overly alcohol-tasting. Seriously hoppy but smooth. Flavors of pine and citrus peel with a touch of grapefruit in the finish.

Overall this is quite sippable, but plenty bitter in the aftertaste. Hops are listed as Galaxy, Citra, and Amarillo. While they tossed in buckets of hops they seem to be great quality. From the 16 oz can. Dated 03/30/21 on the bottom. This is the third in the 10th Anniversary Postcard Series.
