Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $12.00 for a 4-pack (I think)
From: Trader Joe’s in College Area (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Oct. 6, 2021
Consumed: Oct. 7, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 18, 2021
Grabbed a 4-pack of this beer on the way home from work while picking up some other stuff. Wasn’t happy with the Aug. 18 COD, just 49 days after I purchased it (50 days when I drank it), and most likely warm the whole time. Still was under my 60-day rule, just not within the 30 days like I like it. El Segundo’s website called this beer “The Ocean… a place of adventure and solitude. Whether patiently waiting for that perfect wave or resting out beyond the line-up soaking in peace and mother nature… you can take comfort in knowing that the smooth deep blues of the West Coast, the ocean and IPA, will always be there for you. Resting upon the shore sits a beer so fresh, so dank, and so indiscreetly loaded with Strata hops you may feel inclined to trade in the board for a beach chair and unwind in the California sunshine as you sip on the can in your hand.” Mentioned hops were Strata, Citra and Amarillo.
Poured a medium yellow clear color with three fingers of rocky white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled mango, melon, pine, purple grape, caramel malt, plum, red apple and pineapple. Definitely was getting a bit old, but could only detect Strata. Not really any Citra or Amarillo, but would also think Mosaic and Motueka. Better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted a little better than the nose. Got pine, purple grape, caramel malt, plum, red apple, melon, Strata, black pepper and mango. Still wasn’t getting any Citra or Amarillo and would lean more toward Motueka and Mosaic. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Not what I was expecting, but still an outstanding West Coast IPA. (Overall - 4.00)

Poured a pleasent looking clear straw with an okay bubble head, with some retention.
Funky floral and dank notes is how I'll describe it.
Pine resin, tangerine and mango. Some berry starts to be noticed in the end.
Juicy, balanced beer.
