Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $14.99 for a mixed 4-pack
From: El Segundo Brewing Company in El Segundo, Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 15, 2022
Consumed: Jan. 21, 2022
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 5, 2022
Picked up a 4-pack of this and their Jetty barleywine after having a quick flight of other beers at El Segundo Brewing Company. Figured ahead of time at El Segundo would know how to make a Strata-hopped West Coast IPA. Had two cans before reviewing it, giving it a 4.25 both times on Untappd on Jan. 15. For the first one I wrote “Forgot to take a photo but I love Strata and no double that El Segundo could nail a West Coast Strata IPA. Early prediction is a 4.20 for many reasons. Outstanding.” Untappd description was “We've said it once before and we'll say it again... sometimes you fall in love with a hag so much that you have no choice but to name a beer after it. Poured a medium yellow clear color with three fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head. Could see bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass at different points. Excellent foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Strata, grapefruit, strawberry, weed, dank resin, pine, wet grass and passion fruit. It got better as it went down. Much better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose but not quite. In order got Strata, dank pine, resin, strawberry, red grapefruit, passion fruit, wet grass, weed and earthy malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, earthy, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Was kind of back and forth on a few categories but I really liked this for a West Coast IPA overall. (Overall - 4.25)
