Cellared 3 years. Murky orange pour with a sudsy white head and spotted lacing. Aromas of musky wood with peach and orange, barrel and barnyard Funk, green apple, flowers. He adds a lime zest zip and slight minerality. Light and smooth, funk is beautiful, leans a little acidic for style, but not to the point of being an issue. Modern and daring gueuze that is really satisfying. If cellaring like me, time to crack it open sometime in this year, drinking beautifully

Bottle: Poured a golden/amber color gueuze with a medium size white foamy head with OK retention and some minor lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some funky esther and oak notes. Taste is also a mix of tart notes, funky ester with some green apple notes and some oak and no signs of acidic notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable gueuze with really good balance overall.

2021/2022 vintage
Pours a fizzy small head with low retention, clear golden orange color

Nose brings some typical Tilquin funk but a bit more subdued, some vanilla cake batter and barrel notes, mild berry like fruits and tropical notes, otherwise good bacteria souring barnyard funk

Taste is also on the more toned down side, good Tilquin funk fair acidic bacteria souring with some barnyard funk, mid-level acidity, a bit of fruit notes with some citrus tropical like especially late, mild vanilla oak and vanilla pudding perhaps, a bit of berry notes late, drier finish with a long tart citrusy grapefruit and mild flemmy notes

Mouth is med bod, med level of acidity and flemmy notes, higher effervescent carb

Overall quite nice, got a nice level of typical good funk but so much extra, I think the toned-down funk and acidity lets some of the fruits through with some citrus, berry, tropical etc, and a bit of vanilla even, so quite enjoyable

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, with a neck label of 2021-2022, and a best before date of 23rd June 2032. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen gueuze glass.

Appearance: A mostly clear golden orange colour, with an almost two finger white head that had good retention, and left some nice lacing.

Aroma: Plums, fresh cut green apple, wood, funk, hay, with light notes of lime juice.

Taste: Green apple, unripe stonefruit, gooseberry, lemon, lime zest, oak, damp wood, funk.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Great aroma and flavours, and it just drinks so easily. The fourth from the Tilquin Family Tree Project and my favourite so far (granted that Cuvée Arthur has already been released, but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet).
