Had on-tap as part of a paddle at Boat Works in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
First off, I've had a few Old Ales (literally a few), but this one is distinct. This one pours a deep brown/ruby color with a slightly off-white head and a lot of lacing, which is a nice start. The smell and taste, well, I don't know what they do with this beer, but I got a sourness. I'm not a huge fan of sours (haven't had many, really), but this was a slight sourness (from the yeast?) that I really dug. I hadn't gotten that in Old Ales in the past... not even close. The flavor, outside of that tanginess, there's a bit of dark fruit and malt (to be expected), as well as a pretty significant all-spice/cinnamon sort of spicing that actually works incredibly well with LTD.
Do Old Ales vary that much? Between this, Curmudgeon, and Fourth Dementia, I'm guessing so. This isn't quite as good as either of those beers, but it is definitely worth checking out if you can have it. The unexpected sour kick with the spices and the not-at-all-traceable alcohol makes this an outstanding beer, and one of Greenbush's better offerings that I've had.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
