On tap at the brewery release and served in their Greenbush snifter. I was told by the server it was aged in Koval whiskey barrels.
Look- A cloudy brown color with a lazy ring of foam around the rim.
Smell- Whiskey forward with some dark fruit undertones of figs and raisins. There is a slight spiciness and a bit of smoke in the finish.
Taste- The whiskey takes center stage, followed by notes of figs, caramel, and char.
Feel- A big whiskey bite with a tingly mouthfeel. This drinks bigger than the 8.8 abv. It is quite oily in the finish.
Overall- A pretty tasty and big beer. I remember the regular version having some complex flavors that seem to get lost in this one with its big whiskey punch. It will be interesting to see how the bottles change with age. It could be interesting.
