12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 11/11/15. Second bottle, had the first one shortly after the bottling date.
Pours a lightly hazy copper color, with a one finger head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell leads with figs and dates; also cherries, malt, plums , raisins, some grapes. The taste is a little more malt forward, followed by what the nose knows- plums, figs, dates, cherries, raisins, some wine. A light hop bitterness throughout. Smooth, a little creamy, a good body for the style, well carbonated.
Lots of flavor and aroma, maybe a little hoppier than a typical English style, but certainly less than the American style. Enjoyable to drink, hides the ABV well. Strong effort from Greenbush.
