12 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 10/28/16, had 2/15/17.
Pours a reddish medium amber, mostly clear, with a one and a half inch foamy head and a good amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of yeast, malt, raisins, dates, some figs, white grapes, plums, light black pepper in the head, a bit of tobacco. An overall sweet aroma, maybe a little perfume- like. Smells pretty good, really. The taste generally follows the nose- malt, white grapes, raisins, dates, light caramel, plums, less figs, light yeast. A solid hop bitterness throughout, some alcohol warming. Smooth, a good, medium body, well- carbonated.
The flavors really come together well in this year's edition, very tasty. The heavier malt makes this more of a Barleywine than Winter Warmer, but no real need to quibble. I look forward to this every year... and, I finally know who Krampus is!
