12 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 11/7/17, had 3/30/20.
Pours a dark cola color, mostly opaque, with a one inch foamy head with decent retention and some light cling. Aromas of caramel, dates, malt, figs, toffee, some plums and raisins, some chocolate. Flavors of caramel, malt, dates, herbal/earthy hops, some plums, some toffee, light chocolate. Has a fair amount of hop bitterness throughout. Smooth, a very good medium to full body, well carbonated.
Might be my favorite of the first five. Has an impressive amount of hop bitterness for almost 29 months in the bottle, and it’s aged really well. Forget what style GB called this, but it’s a pretty good English Barleywine.
