On-tap at Greenbush. Served in a 6oz taster glass.
A - Dark brown body with reddish glints at the fringes. A half-finger of foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and splotchy lacework.
S - The smoke character is fairly light here, and imparts more of a meaty character to the porter base. The main flavor seems to be cocoa powder.
T - There's even less smoke to taste, with more cocoa, sugar, and caramel sweetness. The finish is somewhat unpleasant, with char, chalk, astringency, and the advertised smoke showing up late to the game.
M - A slightly grainy but otherwise smooth medium body. Moderate carbonation and a slightly sticky finish. No alcohol presence.
D - A decent beer, other than the horrendous finish. By far the lesser of the two smoked offerings from Greenbush. I think this one should go back to the drawing board unfortunately.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
