Had this poured at the Michigan Brewers' Guild in Ypsi. Pours a dark color with no head whatsoever. Aroma is huge whiskey booze, maybe some roasted grain, don't get much coffee. Oh my goodness. Almost like drinking straight whiskey here, with a bit more thickness. Heavy booze and some oak to go along with hops an roasty malt character, but again no coffee. Not sure I could handle much of this one, and for 8.3% this is way harsh. Not terrible, just rough around the edges.

A - Really nice looking beer. Pours a black color with brown on the edges. Wonderful cascades of sheets and sticky lace on the sides that lasted throughout consumption.
S - Sweet chocolate, some caramel, very roasted coffee. There is intermittent bursts of apple on the nose which makes me think of solvent. Kind of a Jekyll and Hyde beer actually, with good coffee milk stout changing sporadically to a solventy whiskey madness. Good outweighs the bad though, as this has somthing going for it.
T - Taste is like the nose but not quite as good. There are times when you get a rich, coffee stout with some great flavors. There are other times where it is overrun by solvent and slightly boozy bourbon. Time might make it better, but problem is more the flavor of the bourbon than the heat.
M - Creamy, smooth, medium bodied, appropriate carbonation.
O - Get the feeling the base beer on this was better. Has some potential, but aging this one in barrels didn't really do it any favors. Really excited if they get this one working as it has some great stuff going for it.
