12 oz. bottle, with bottled on date 10/14/2014 printed on the label somewhere. Acquired this bottle from a friend in a recent drunken fridge cleansing. A new one to me from Greenbush, this one a 'porter brewed with raspberries' per the label.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours thick and inky, a dark chocolate black body - opaque in the glass with hardly a finger of dark tan head that thins to a ring quick. Some mild spotty sugary lacing left behind. Maybe a bit more stout-ish in appearance than a porter, but it looks good.
S - The aroma is a wonderful pairing of tart juicy raspberries, with milk chocolate, roast, and notes of coffee bean char. Mild tart / sour / lacto & the chocolate covered raspberries make for a perfect pairing. Slightly metallic around the edges.
T - Taste follows the nose: a lovely pairing of sweet, semi-tart raspberries with creamy milky / dark chocolate. A very nice pairing. Not overly sweet, with the perfect amount of sugars.
M - Smooth, rich, creamy, juicy, & very mildy tart. Roasty, chocolatey, and bitter on the finish. The raspberries lend a wonderful helping hand to this one. Too thick to call this one a porter though in my opinion.
Overall, an excellent 'porter' from Greenbush, but more of a stout to me if I had to go by experience. Would love to see what the barrel-aged treatment is like.

A bit heavy on the raspberries. The base seems nice and nutty with some charred flavors. Would have preferred the raspberry to be toned down or even absent.

A: Pitch black in color with a thick, creamy, lasting head, dark brown in appearance; thick, pillowy lacing clings to the glass
S: Raspberry puree and milk chocolate nose; full malty undertones
T: Huge burst of sweet raspberry up front, almost a raspberry simple syrup; chocolate malt transitions quickly into a full, sweet, boozy finish. Raspberry and sweetness step back as it warms for more bittersweet chocolate malt.
M: Fairly full bodied with an almost creamy feeling, carbonation is bubbly on the tongue but immediately dissipates
O: Very nice imperial porter with a great balance of sweet fresh raspberries and dark chocolate.
