Clear red-amber color. Poured a noisy medium head that dropped down to a patchy skiff in half a minute. Low flow of tiny bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Left a few small dots of lace.
Strong blend of berry and orange scents. The orange smells more like orange Jello than an orange from a tree. Light yeast funk; close to horse blanket. Swirling the glass kicked up the horse blanket for a while.
The cranberry flavor dominates, even to the point of having the same astringent bitterness as cranberry juice. The orange is much lighter and tastes closer to a real tangerine (not artificial). Light malt. Light yeast funk. The aftertaste is cranberry, stripped of most of the bitterness, and a pleasant light orange. Some malt and yeast funk flavors.
Light tongue tingling. Almost all the fluid converts to a coarse foam. Quite astringent. Medium-light body with a light oily feel.
Excessive amount of cranberry. This is more like a cranberry juice based cocktail (or vodka cooler) than a beer. After knocking out most of the cranberry, the orange could probably be reduced a bit as well. I enjoyed this, but it wasn't very beer like. Tastes much better than it smells, since the orange smell seems like it was created in a lab.
