Opaque black in the glass, cola soda color while pouring. Poured a short head that dropped in seconds to look like a little bit of frosting on the surface. Too dark to see any carbonation. Left long strings of lace.
Smells of dark roasted malt with a bit of plum or prune. Hint of coffee. Slight funk. Swirling the glass kicked up a light and sweet barnyard for a few seconds.
Dark roasted malt flavor is very mild, even though it is the first flavor that shows up. Hint of mint. Mild bitters with a hint of coffee. Generic stewed fruit (heavy on the prunes) that has been cooked long and hot enough to caramelize. The aftertaste is a burst of stronger bitters and a prune flavor. The prune fades away leaving a lightly bitter coffee.
Moderate tongue tingling as it grows to a coarse foam. A bit oily, tending towards gummy. Heavy body.
A fruit beer that has almost no fruit instead of tasting like a fruit juice and vodka cooler. Unfortunately the fruit that comes through is mostly stewed prunes instead of the blueberry and cherry listed on the label. Tastes somewhat generic.
