Had with appetizers at Avli (Greek restaurant) in Lincoln Park. Lovely ale to match a lovely late summer evening. This Golden went so well with the appetizers that I had a second with dinner; noted on UnTappd.

While Avli may have served this too cold and in a chilled glass, the flavors were still discernible and improved as it warmed. Much in this English tradition, the malts were well-blended and the hops were modest. The honey was aromatic and did not get too sweet.

This is my second from Septem (the first was in Greece in 2019) and would like to find this Microbrewery again (without having to travel to Greece, nice as that is.) Most interesting is Septem's philosophy of selectively using the passions and techniques of winemaking and applying them to brewing. How's that for cultural fusion ?

Appearence: Deep gold color with one finger white head with some lacing.

Smell: peach, tropical fruit, orange, pepper, low flavor of honey, some esthers

Taste: Same as the nose. Dominate flavour of peach and orange.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish without astringency and harshness.

Overall: A refreshing Ale yet very good balanced. Three different hops, a mix of New World hop (Amarillo) and European hops (Tattnanger&Syrian Golding) offering a nice floral and spicy taste, yet very good balanced with the greek honey.

PS: Finally, a decent Greek beer!

Poured into a chilled tumbler resulting in a thick foamy head. Light golden with lots of fine bubbles. Smells of wheat water crackers, clover, and honey. Overwhelming first taste of honey then a tad of hops at the end. Mouthfeel was clean but left a coating of sweetness. It was a decent beer but was a tad too sweet for me.

i thought this was excellent, had never seen it anywhere before, its at a cool little liquor store across the street from the park burger on holly street, check that place out its neat! a greek ale made with honey, looks a little rust colored, almost copper but not quite, and very heady from the small little bottle. white and rising and lasting and lacy. it smells great, a floral note to the honey and a more substantial malt base than i was anticipating, bready and even toasted, fuller bodied when i drink it too, this is hearty and nice. a light yeast strain but with some flavor, sort of english, delicious with the honey, which is floral and sweet in the nose and downright thick in the flavor, incredibly natural, cut flowers and citrus and even tea, lots going on with it, raw and waxy and sweet and liberally used here. balanced by some bittering hops and well incorporated into all the of the malt and the biscuity yeast, but standing out and really making this very unique. great carbonation keeps it from being heavy, i love the honey flavor in here, its natural and bold without making the beer too sweet at all. i could have had a bunch of these, and wished i got more than one. ill look for this one again, and will keep an eye out for some of their other flavors. i have not seen much greek craft beer anywhere, this is excellent and distinctive!
