32 oz. crowler from Beertopia.
Smell is light roast, chocolate (cocoa), and crackers.
Taste is coffee (light like one of those flavored roasts), lactose-like sweetness, with a crisp and slightly buttery finish. Although this is billed as a pale stout it drinks much more like a lager with stout characteristics. I don't get much in the way of pale ale flavors, but I think I like it better this way.

im not sure i get the hype. these blonde stouts are popping up all over the place, and while i have to say i would take this one over stones latest, its still a weird experience, not a stout to me at all. lots of body here though, probably oat heavy, and there is a seeming roasted character to it, chicory or drip coffee or something, and a sweet milk sugar taste as well. it has all the elements, but if i hear one more bartender tell me to close my eyes and tell me its a blonde beer, im going to lose it. it is very much a blonde beer, a robustly flavored and unique one, but its not a stout in my book, as much as its good beer overall. i dont like the relying on a gimmick here to sell it, its a great winter blonde though, with all the roast character to it and the body, its quite warming, and the sweetness helps the finish linger, a cool aspect for cold weather too. its almost better at room temperature than it is cold, also uncommon. i like the beer a lot, i dislike the branding of it, take it for what it is, but its definitely worth a try.

This is actually a "pale stout", a cross or hybrid beer. It's unusual, for sure, and might not be for everyone. But it's not hoppy like a lot of pales, and it's not bitter or sweet like some stouts. It really is its own thing. It's very pale and a bit cloudy, almost like a wheat in appearance. If you're in the mood for something different, here you go.
