On-tap at Freshcraft, Denver, CO

A: The beer is hazy dark amber yellow in color. It poured with just a quarter finger high off white head that left a large path of bubbles on the surface and a wide collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of grape juice are present in the nose along with hints of Belgian yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell and has light to moderately strong flavors of grape juice along with notes of Belgian yeast.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a touch dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This saison seems like it could be better if it had more yeasty aromas and flavors and a drier palate.

a saison with rose juice or something, i thought this would be refined and vinous, but its thick and sloppy from the tap, so sedimented and dense that whatever grape additions were made, are lost to its abyssal rawness, really doesnt taste bad, but this is a poor example of a saison, even before the fruit. from the tap, it pours a very murky tan color, odd shade really, although it has a pretty nice white head on the top with okay retention. it smells slightly fruity, a little sweet, and like so much wheat malt that its a problem. i have liked some beers from renegade over the years, i really have, but there really is no excuse for this level of amateur in a beer like this. there is a ton of sludgy sediment in the bottom of my glass, it feels thick and huge for what it is, the yeast doesnt have much character, and i cant taste the rose element in here hardly at all, although the flavor is not entirely unpleasant in flavor, the beer just needs a lot of work to be drinkable or appealing in any serious way. i thought these guys had turned a corner beyond beer of an obviously inferior quality like this, i am surprised an account would continue to buy from them after one that looks like this. i hope i was at the bottom of the keg or something, but i wont be back for more of this. get it together guys!

edit: i have seen some photos of this beer in a can and it looks infinitely better, i must have had a bad draft experience. I will revisit this one when i can, as i am attracted to the idea of the recipe. hopefully my experience was an isolated one...
