Poured dense, dark brown, almost like an espresso but with less head and floaties. (Seriously, filter this when you pour it)
The aroma was coffee and vanilla, a very pleasant combination that smelled, well, natural. Things are looking up!
The taste followed, definitely coffee and vanilla are involved and the lactose smoothes things out while bringing in a little sweet.
The feel was okay, but I kept worrying about the floaties. I know some beer should have them, but generally, stouts do not.
OA, tasty beer, mine lacked carbonation and the floaties kept me from really digging it. May need to try it again, filtered.

Not too many copies rated on UnTappd (438) and a 3.81 average. But, Witch's Hat got this one right. (I suppose if you brew enough in a series, you get it right.) What they got particularly right was the moderate use of vanilla. No artificial vanilla Taste or Smell. It makes this Sweet Lou a decent substitute for dessert.

Not my favorite style, so I will let someone else step up here. But this Halloween season, I will give Witch's Hat their micro-review because it is a typical Michigan story I've heard for over three decades. This couple lost their jobs in the auto/finance depression that started in 2008. They start Witch's Hat brewery and start a taproom menu. Through Covid, the startup continues today. Will and family and community bringing brewing culture to exurban Detroit.
