Available year round in traditional 750ml bottles (at 5.0% abv), and for the first time, in a special blue toned, 1 litre (at 5.3% abv), limited edition release for Christmas 2002.

Freshness dated 1 litre bottle tagged with brewing date of the second week of October 2002. Pours quite flat but gives off a large foamy 1" head which quickly gave way to a thin layer of large bubbles with minimal lacing.

An exceptionally dark brown ale that approaches the consistency of a porter, but displays very dark browns and slight reddish tones which can only be seen when raising the glass to a bright light.

Typical of some of the rich English styled ales that are better suited to near room temperature serving levels. Features a full body with exceptionally low hop values and no bitter taste at all.

Promoted as "a mild chocolate ale" that reportedly uses Pale Ale, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, the chocolate flavors remain light and don't overwhelm the taste buds.

NOTE: All literature on the Nut Brown ale call this a 5.0%abv release, but my 1 litre bottle is tagged with the 5.3%abv markings. I purchased this release along with 1 bottle of each of their other offerings straight from the brewery and was informed that the content of the 1 litre bottles were the exact same as the standard 650ml bottles. Curious to know if I was misinformed or if the label on this is actually incorrect?
