a super innovative beer, worthy of their anniversary occasion. this is a barrel aged lager, brewed with tangerines and orange blossom tea, and its very interesting, drinkable, unique, and delicious, my favorite of the two beers we had in here. its a light orange color with a good head from the tap, lots of bubbles, a little haziness, and an aroma of fresh orange zest and just a little tang. the orange and the tea go amazingly well together, and its neat that the base beer is so minimal, it allows these flavors to really come together. the malt has some body but not a ton of flavor, the lager yeast isnt uniquely european or anything, and not real hops are happening here, so this one seems driven by the tangerine and the tea, along with a slightly sweet woody character from the barrel. it has great maturity, and the mouthfeel of a lager, but also a little bit of funky acidity balanced by the oaken smoothness. the tea has a cool black tea earthiness and some bitterness at the end to balance a bit of the orange sweetness, and the carbonation is really high, so this is refreshing for being as complex as it is. a pretty clever beer here, lots of flavor, nice use of the tangerines and the tea, and a cool barrel treatment. this is easily the most ambitious beer i have seen from these guys to date, loved it!
