Alchemic knowledge yields pleasure in both sweet and tart malt-derived flavors while dry hops add lemon and pineapple aroma in this amber-hued ale.

For sure not an amber/red ale This is a sour ale that has been mislabeled.
Appearance is indeed a cloudy amber color with a fizzy off-white head that disappears very quickly.
Smell is mostly fruity and yeasty with some balancing ready malt.
Taste is very sour with light fruits, rind, citrus, and sour cherry. Has a nice malty backbone that keeps it from falling off the edge of sourness just short of puckering. Although it is very sour still.
Overall this was a nice change of pace. Very refreshing in the summer and almost not very beery. Kind of reminds me of a lambic or gueuze with some added carbonation. Tasty for sure but one at a time is good for me.

Nice Amber pour with quickly dissipating beige head. I get some malt on the nose but otherwise not much. A little grassy hint.
Taste is great. Very tart. Lemon, underripe pineapple, and brineyness. I'm into it. Verging on puckering , which is extremely my shit. get a malty finish, which makes it easy to go back for more.
I'm glad someone gave this to me because I don't usually reach for Amber ales, and I would not have guessed it is more of a sour. Surprised it doesn't have a higher rating, but if I wanted an Amber , I'd be disappointed too, probably.

This is beyond interesting. Categorized as an Amber/Red Ale, it looks the part mostly, pouring a fuzzy amber-hued brown color with a light tan head that dissipates in seconds (and is the first clue this is not an Amber/Red Ale).
The second clue is the nose, which has little discernible malt presence (and I love the Amber/Red Ale style for the interplay between the hops and the significant malt notes), instead featuring lemon lime, pineapple, and salt - !!!SALT!!! - aromas.
The taste is a tart sledgehammer of lemon lime and pineapple flavors, and the salt is present in quantity, and look who else finally made an appearance: Mr Malt, with a subtle biscuit flavor.
The mouthfeel is spritzy and dry, which I’d expect not from an Amber/Red Ale, but rather something like a Flanders Red Ale, which is what I think happened here: this was miscategorized as an Amber/Red Ale, when in fact it should be something in the sour category.
Alas, the Three Floyds website does not attribute a style to this beer, but does mention the sour notes (and the malt) on the website and the can, so that is the basis for this review.
PS: did I mention that I liked the beer, regardless of style? That is the important thing.

Appearance - Pours cloudy burnt orange with a nice off white head that settles to a thin cap. few spots of lacing
Aroma - Light sweet malt, orange, citrus rind, light lime and lemon as well.
Taste - Damn i was not expecting this to be so tart tons of super tart lemon/lime, getting a very mild hint of malt. this tastes nothing like a amber ale I am used to but I dig the super tart taste. Nice touch of salt carries through.
Feel - Light bodied slightly syrupy feel, really drying throughout.
Overall - The nose is a little muddled but I love the taste, super tart slightly salty more gose like.
