Our latest barrel-aged imperial stout hails from a battle-filled planet from the furthest reaches of the galaxy. Weighing in at a hefty 15.6% ABV, Cocomungo was aged with toasted coconut and maple syrup after spending a year in Willett bourbon barrels. Expect layered flavors of maple syrup, toasted coconut and rich chocolate backed by whiskey and oak notes from the barrel-aging process.

From a 12oz bottle. Bottled in 2026.
Nice hiss and smoke upon opening the bottle. This is a pitch black pouring beer and looks quite thick when pouring it into the glass. There's a 1 finger tan colored head to this beer that lasted a very long time considering the ABV. The head dissipates to a ring around the glass.
There's a good dark chocolate hit in the nose. The dark chocolate is backed up by some coconut. I do also get a good scent from the bourbon barrels used which add some wood notes and vanilla to the aroma.
There's a huge coconut hit right up front. This hit lingers on my taste buds. The base beer then adds to the coconut with caramel, toffee and dark chocolate notes. I then get more barrel notes toward the finish with oak, and vanilla. There's actually a decent amount of sweetness in this beer, but not over the top. There's a slight bitterness on the finish.
This is a thick boy.It does have a full body, and a creamy feeling to it. There's a bubbly feeling in this beer. There's a bit of a burn on the finish that lets you know to take it slow and easy with this beer.
Very interesting beer and one I'm happy I bought.

Picked up a bottle at Imperial today. Have had this on tap previously, but didn't review it. But today...
The beer pours the expected blackish brown color with decent head retention and light lacing. This has the look of a beer that has seen some considerable barrel aging. On thr nose I'm getting chocolate, fudge brownie and vanilla. Maybe there's a hint of underlying maple syrup and coconut, but that's all. On the palate, this is a much more interesting beer. I'm now picking up considerable maple syrup and coconut, aling with chocolate and vanilla. This beer is quite sweet, but I feel like there's enough going on flavor-wise to keep the sweetness from becoming overwhelming. Mouthfeel is fairly full, but doesn't really the level of richness and flavor intensity I would expect in a 15% abv beer. Alcohol is pretty well integrated into the flavor profile, though you can tell the abv is up there.
Interesting beer. A little bit goes a long way, but if you don't mind the overt sweetness and high alcohol, this is a fun, well made beer from the folks at 3 Floyds.

12 oz. Bottle
BOTTLED 2026
WOW! 15.6% ABV
Poured into a chalice a very nice dark brown/black color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which also leaves a very nice huge oil slick and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice touch of chocolate/toffee, bourbon, oak, coconut, vanilla, licorice. The taste is very nice, malty, hoppy, very nice touch of chocolate, toffee, bourbon, very nice oakyness, coconut, vanilla, licorice, pretty big sweetness. Full Body, ABV is hidden very nicely, this is a very tasty complex brew. Overall, definitely worth checking out, very nice.

12-ounce bottle purchased at The Beermongers in Portland, OR. Couldn't find a date stamp. Enjoyed in a Fort George Festival of Dark Arts taster glass.
Opaque black-brown body which reveals a deep burnt umber color at the edges. An aggressive pour raises a thin cap of biscuit brown foam, which vanishes in the short time between pouring the beer and putting the bottle back in the fridge. The nose is full of chocolate, coconut, and booze (in that order), and it warns me this is going to be an extremely sweet sip.
Yep, the nose did not lie. The beer leads with an almost comically sweet combo of chocolate, caramel, bourbon, and graham crackers. Coconut follows, and it's tasty but rather mellow after the opening salvo of flavors. A toasted hazelnut note comes through as the sweetness peaks. It is shadowed by a powerful alcohol burn. There's more coconut in the bourbon-heavy finish, along with some roasted malt, char, and burnt marshmallows.
The body is thick and luxurious, with biting carbonation and beaucoup alcohol heat.
At first I was disappointed in the strength of the coconut in this beer. I was hoping for a level of coconut flavor comparable to the near-overwhelming coffee in Crushing Mass stout (also from Three Floyds). Halfway through the bottle, however, I came to appreciate the quality of the flavor that was there and admire the restraint with which it was displayed. Cocomungo would be a much better beer if the sweetness and alcohol presence showed similar restraint and some semblance of balance. (Yes, I understand that restraint and balance are not necessarily on-brand for Three Floyds.)

Picked up a 2025 edition 12 oz bottle from Shangy's in Eammaus, PA for $6.49. Consumed 4-9-26.
Beer was jet black with a nice brown head that has some hang time.
Nose has notes of mild roasted malts and coconut.
Taste is mild roasted malts in which the coconut and chocolate additions merge nicely. Maple addition is lite and is not perceptible, so it blends well. Barrel brings a nice warming and some balance but, in the end, it finishes with a pastry stout appropriate level of sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth but lacks the viscosity i look for a brew this big.
Overall, i have to say the blend is nicely done by the 3 Floyds team, it was enjoyable!

Picked this up months ago for $6 bucks single from Vintage Estate in Ohio. Into my lumpy dog pint glass.
A - As expected its dark thick and surprisingly with a moderate pour a nice bit of fizzy mocha foam.
S - Aggressively sweet in the nose as expected for a maple syrup beer. Mostly next to this is bakers chocolate but not getting much toasted coconut.
T - Again I am glad this is blended the coconut is not oily or strong and the maple is powerful but it plows through the massive ABV making every sip enjoyable rather than ethanol burn. Doesn't feel as refined as I like since the coffee roast or cocoa nibs get kind of lost under the mountain of sweetness but appreciated since I had some syrup based beers feel too dry.
M - Heavy thick coats the palate with every sip. If you cant stand sweet beers I would split the bottle with a friend. Like I said powerful stuff.
Overall far from my favorite BBA offering from 3 Floyds in a way it just makes me miss the BBA coffee strout "Crushing Mass" more since it has sweetness but the coffee kept it in check. I would say its pretty much in the same league as Canadian Breakfast stout CBS from founders so if you love that stuff this will be a treat. Not bad!

L: Pours a dark walnut/chocolate that forms a thin khaki head, quick to fade. A faint swirl of retention on the top, akin to an espresso, and a fairly robust khaki ring of lacing. Held to the light, an opaque chocolate brown hue.
S: Sweet bourbon barrel, oak, vanilla, coconut. Hint of maple. Chocolate.
T: Bourbon barrel and coconut in heavy doses. Notes of oak, vanilla, licorice, brown sugar and maple. A bit of char and roasted malt. Dark chocolate and a bit of a bite in the finish.
F: Medium- to full-bodied. Thick, viscous, silky mouthfeel. Light carbonation.
O: The paragon of decadence in an imperial stout. Balances sweetness of the coconut, etc. against malts, barrel, and chocolate. Very well done, an absolute treat.
