A disappointingly average Saison. The look is a little too clear and too yellow. The smell is light orange and clove. Maybe ginger too. Taste is more ginger. It’s fine but not worth seeking out again

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a cracker malt and yeasty aroma mixed with notes of orange peel and a big hit of star anis. Along with these smells comes some peppercorn and grain of paradise as well as notes of hay, a touch of ginger, and a little bit of funk.
Taste – The taste begins with a cracker malt and clove flavor mixed with a decent hit of anis and some flavors of pepper and grain of paradise. At the same time there is a moderately yeast flavor and notes of ginger. As the taste advances the orange peel joins in and becomes more pronounced with the ginger. Some more clove joins in as well adding to the Belgium nature of the brew. Toward the end light notes of funk and hay join in, leaving one with a somewhat malty, and interestingly spiced taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is slightly thicker for a saison of its strength with a touch of a higher and more peppery carbonation level.
Overall – Ahh. Not bad, but not really what I am looking for in a Saison. Fun to try, but nothing to go out of your way for

Appearance - The beer was golden in color with visible carbonation that led to a bubbly white head.
Smell - The beer had light notes of funk on the nose with hints of Belgian yeast.
Taste - At the front, There were notes of citrus, green grapes, and bubblegum. The wheat back bone was somewhat faint, giving light to Belgian notes. In a way, I started to question the style. That said, it went down very easy.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation was fairly aggressive, drying out the palate.
Overall - This beer did not change my world, but it was very drinkable.

If the brewers at 3 Floyds have any say in the matter, old gods have a weakened palate and need a lot of extra flavor to command attention of the tastebuds.
Pale gold and heightened with bubbly, Olde Gods teases the nose with a fruity, spicy twinge and hints of dough and peppery grasses in a full aromatic display. Its sweetness is moderate and rounds the palate with honey, biscuit and bread crust. Not only met with a spicy balance but dominated with ginger, star anise and paradise seed, the saison-styled ale takes on nearly Christmas proportion. Following up with citrus peel, hay, spruce tip and an almost soapy spice, the session proves much more spicy than fruity.
Medium bodied and lively with carbonation, the session is a little to overt when it comes to the spices, making each of them easily identifiable and bold, lacking the subtle dominance of classic Belgian farmhouse ale.

12 oz. bottle pours a clear dark golden with medium white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma is not as funky as I feared, although the yeast is apparent, along with orange peel, and ginger. Taste ends up bitter. Body is medium to full without too much carbonation. Quite enjoyable and interesting, although not normal for the "not normal" brewery.
