Poured into a New Belgium tulip glass.
A - A fairly soft pour comes out as if I had done hard. Black with a good two fingers of tan head that sets down to less then one with a dense foam. Almost no lacing on the glass as I sip.
S - Coffee and chocolate notes at first then the whiskey takes over.
T - Whiskey but not overpowering. The hops then come out as the beer finishes dry on the tongue. The hop aftertaste lingers for a bit. The toasted malts are there but just not doing much went compared to the whiskey and hops. Some sweetness from them but nothing that grabs my attention.
M - Feels a bit thin. Not sure if this is due to the lack of malt characteristics that I have seen in others of this style.
O - A nice beer but would have liked the dark roasted malts to have come out a lot more then they did. Not something I would seek out again.
