On tap at the brewhouse. Dark brown, almost black color, one finger head that quickly faded, little lacing. Slight aroma of dark roasty malts, not much else. Good sweet roasty malt flavors, along with some slight coffee notes. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Overall this was pretty good, but not great.

another good new one (to me) from pikes peak. this is a solid stout, plenty of oats smoothing the edges and giving it a round sweetness in the finish. not quite as dark as some others, i can see a little light coming through under the tall tan head when i hold it up, and i think that hints at the flavor, which is definitely less bitter roasted and more rich and dark fruity and chocolaty than most, which is a nice little twist. its got all kinds of character, and despite note being freakishly dark, it is incredibly well layered and flavorful. carbonation is high too, which lightens it up even more, allow a beer that is dangerously drinkable at this abv. a great winter beer this one, offering something just different enough. do they package this one? if they dont they should.
