Raspberry Mountain Stout

Dark, opaque brown (nearly black) body; very thin head, frothy, though, and lasting; small patches and flecks of foam dotting the glass. Huge charred grain aroma with a slight note of sweet fruitiness. Excellent flavor medley; roasted grain and nearly milk chocolate-like qualities; slight raspberry sweetness with an even smaller edge of vanilla sweetness; nice grain char contributing to the low-key bitterness. Heavy body; smooth and silky; some berry-like tang; slick residual sugar smoothness.

This is a wonderful stout, delivering some rock solid basic stout character with a mildly zippy touch of juicy raspberry. Vanilla was also used with this beer, quiet and reserved, lurking in the background. Altogether, this is a fine dark ale.
