Jet black body; lively carbonation percolates up through a thin, wispy head. Very heavy and heady chili pepper aroma. Incredibly intense chili pepper flavor; hard to discern much else. Generally heavy body; oily; intense chili pepper heat.
Well, this one is a tough one to rate. For all intents and purposes, this is nothing more than an intensely potent chili beer disguised as a dark beer and marketed as a barrel aged stout (aged in "whiskey hot sauce barrels"). And as a chili beer, this beer is outstanding. As a stout, let alone a whiskey barrel aged stout, one is hard pressed to find any stout qualities other than the color of the body. And like most chili beers I've had, the oils seem to make for a lousy head. So, I give this beer mixed ratings but still good ones. If you're looking for a stout experience, this isn't the beer for you. But if you like hot chili beers (and I do), this one is a must try.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
