This is a strong dark saison brewed to enjoy during November in Maine. With one foot in autumn and the other in winter, this beer bridges the seasons flavor-wise. We dry-hopped it with American hops, which layers hints of pine over the dry, chocolatey malt base.

Had a 8oz pour on tap at Oxbow 2 year anniversary party
A: brown and slightly translucent
S: very nice roasted coffee/chocolate
t: rustic pine with nice roasted coffee notes at the end
m: medium density with decent small rolling bubble carbonation
overall: another great beer from oxobw that i'd love to get my hands on in late fall as explained in the description

A freshly poured growler of this new beer is served in an Oxbow logo glass. The growler was filled directly from the brewery's tap and was stored in a cooler and then my fridge. I've poured this growler less than four hours after it was filled.
The beer, which is listed as a dry-hopped black saison on the brewery's website, is a dark opaque liquid. A tiny head of tan foam quickly disappears to a slight ring where the liquid hits the walls of the glass.Swirling the glass leaves a film of beer with some patchy foam.
The aroma from this beer isn't exceptionally strong. What I can smell is a nice citrus hop aroma with a few toasted malts.
The flavor is a great mixture of dark malts, bitter hops and saison yeast. There is a ncie amount of toast and chocolate from the malt that works really well with the pine flavored American hops. The yeast imparts some Belgian farmhouse flavors to remind you that this isn't a Black IPA.
For being a strong beer with a good amount of malt, the beer has low level of coating. It leaves behind some nice roasted malt flavors and a decent amount of bitterness. Carbonation isn't too high, but what is there is enhanced by the hops to provide a noticeable amount of tingling. There isn't much stickiness.
This is an interesting style. I like what Oxbow can do within the confines of the saison style. I may be serving this a little too cold, but as the growler warms up I may find the beer improves.
