Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Notably hazy (tho well chilled/rested) but mid-golish in colour. Pours with a 2mm white cap. ps @ +5mins, holds well.
S- I get a coriander note typical of the weisse style, nothing in addition though.
T- Coriander again, possibly some banana. That's against a background aspect that's rather 'soda-watery'. A mildly hoppy-dry note into the finish.
F- As^ it's rather thin. I don't really get malts; I get a tiny sweet facet but it hasn't depth nor interest.
O- As with this brewery's Michala, a Kellerbier that I had this week, the stars are not aligning for me. Here I easily get the coriander note and an early banana facet but nothing else. The body is surprisingly light for what a 5.5% should be able to offer. It lacks the kind of comforting feel of malts on the palate, if it weren't 'soda-watery' I'd start to ponder if it's using adjuncts. All in all it's a poor cousin to the big Bavarian names, even the likes of the readily available (in the UK) Erdinger Weisse. Disappointing and expensive = not one I'd buy again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! ==> It's labelled in German but from what I see it abides by the 'Bavarian brewing law' re: ingredients and no other surprises.
500ml bottle £4 (='ambitious pricing'). BB: 05/08/2021 Bought from BeautifulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
