Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
"What's the fastest way to make an Atlanta native cringe?

""21-3"" works, but there's another way:

Say ""Hotlanta.""

Take your senses on a trip ITP when you sip on this quadruple-dry-hopped IPA. With the unpredictability of Atlanta’s spring weather, this cloudy double IPA pops with sunny tropical notes on the nose. It drinks dank and finishes with a bit of bitterness, much like an Atlanta sports fan. Don't Call It Hotlanta checks in at a bridge-collapsing 8.5% ABV, so enjoy it after your hour-long evening commute."

12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 12.99/ 4 pack. Canned 5//18. Served in a Monday Night snifter. Enjoyed 6/5/18.

Pours a semi hazy, pale golden orange with about a finger and a half of pale head. The bubbles shrink back fairly quickly, leaving a splotchy haze, a modest halo and some scattered dashes and dots of lacing.

Aromas of citrusy hops, melon, tangerine, lemon, berry and a bit of malt sweetness.

The rich hop flavors vacillate between tropical and dank hops. Oranges, a distinct cattiness, passion fruit, socks, melon rind and a little vague sugar.

Medium, oily body with understated carbonation. The lingering finish is tropically dank.

Another mighty fine IPA from Monday Night. Since really nabbing my attention late last year their roll continues. I love to see them continue these near monthly releases from their fairly recently established Hop Hut.

Light hazy yellow color. Strong tropical notes on the nose. Bright and hoppy DIPA with mild malt on the finish.

Best by 8/26, does that mean it was canned 4/26? 2/26?

Dont put a "best by" date on your cans - that's insulting. I would give this some bonus points due to it being a couple months old, but I'm not really sure when it was canned... Regardless, it's just OK, good for Georgia.

Appearance - pours slightly cloudy orange color with decent white head that quickly dissipates. Light spotty lacing.

Aroma - Light orange, hops, onion, grapefruit, earthy herbal aroma with a touch of malt.

Taste - Mixture of malt, orange and grapefruit. Flavors kind of run together, sort of earthy metallic off flavor I do not much care for.

Feel - Medium bodied well carbonated pretty dry finish. Lies heavy on the tongue.

Overall - Flavor is off putting, aroma is decent probably would not have this again.

Pours dense amber with a thin white head that dissipates to thin lace around the periphery of the glass.

Smell is slightly citrus. Taste is delicious with hoppy aftertaste.

Highly recommended.

Appearance: Pours a deep golden body, reasonably clear with a thin, near-white head.

Smell: Tropical fruit pulp dressed with citrus juice, earthy herbs, slight underlying catty touch. Golden barley, crunchy day-old bread.

Taste: Lightly bready with a brief sweetness hinting of treacle. Dank, moist herbaceousness, earthy, featuring supporting fruit flavors of papaya and citric grapefruit. Again, a bit catty, a bit musky. Moderate bitterness. Upped acidity nearing the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: It's OK.

Hop forward on the nose and tongue. Nice bite from hops and carbonation. Hazy amber pour with creamy head that fades but leaves trace on the glass. No floaties. Third sip brings a little citrus that fades into hoppy pine. Not harsh or overpowering though. Not as oily or reading as I'd like but decent mouthfeel. The flavor remains...and it is quite pleasant.
