500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 10.99. 2018 vintage, released in April. Served in a Monday Night snifter. Enjoyed 5/17/18.
Pours a pale, dull straw. Opaque with two fingers of fluffy but fast-dissipating white head. A thin halo wraps around the edges but fails to impart any lasting lace.
Smells of wine, Brett, wet wood, pear and pale grains.
Plenty of Brett right up front and throughout in the flavor. Bitter, earthy fruit skins, wet hay, woodsy wine, pear, pineapple rind and old cereal.
Dry medium body with pronounced carbonation. The earthy, funky finish blends wine-soaked oak, Bretty funk and a little earthy grain.
Monday Night has a respectable saison here. Family Reunion successfully adds wine barrel character to the familiar Brett saison. It isn’t what I typically reach for but I enjoyed it.
