A 16.9 fl oz. bottle with no bottled on or best by date, poured into a Moonzen teku glass.

Appearance: It poured a cloudy golden colour with a slightly less than two finger white head that had good retention and left nice lacing.

Aroma: Citrus orange, mandarin and a bit of peel with hints of mango.

Taste: Juicy with orange, melon and mango dominating. There are also some light herbal and floral notes, a hint of lemon zest and is lightly bitter.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and highly carbonated.

Overall: Another great lager from Jack’s Abby. Much like Hoponius Union, it is light tasty and easy to drink.

Should be rather fresh as I got this in a mixed 12 pack that just came out last weekend. Thought the price point was nice for one of the best breweries in MA.

A- Tall 12oz bottle poured into a snifter with a pretty much clear pale golden body. The cap is white and has a frothy consistency rising to about one finger. Belt around the top drops drizzle and spots of lace.

S- Dank hops flow out of my glass with pungency, really reminds me of that herb some people want to legalize. Mixed in with that are notes of melon, mango, apricot, lemon and floral hops.

T- Calypso and Citra lead the way and it pretty much mimics the nose with hop tones of juicy fruits like mango, orange and melon leading to herbal mint, kiwi, lime, lemon and floral notes. Cereal grains come to mind but the yeast stays out of it being rather clean.

MF- Light to medium bodied overall with a smooth creaminess. Carbonation level is moderately high and the bitterness falls on the palate at the end.

No surprise for me here with Jacks Abby delivering another solid brew to the MA market. Calypso and Citra seem to compliment each other well bringing plenty of fruit but also nice floral and herbal notes.

A: Pale straw yellow with a thick foamy sticky head that clings to the sides of the glass. The bubbles are almost soapy looking with their foaminess factor.

S: Aroma of a jacked up lager with bitter citrus and mango hints. Tropical fruit medly with the strongest of the fruit aromas being mango. The nose in itself is faint but is clearly outmatched with the flavor that is packed inside.

T: Flavors of lots of melon and pear meeting up with mango and some citrus. While the citrus is not as pronounced with "Calyptra" being the hops added in this beer, I can tell that I would gladly purchase this hop strain or a combination therein if I could to make a beer nearly as smooth and flavorful as this. The beer is not overly hopped or bittered but rather left with later hop additions to fill in the holes where there is not a large malt presence by design.

M: Light and highly carbonated. Well balanced

O: Overall this is a fantastic American Pale Lager. This is the way lager should be done. Its light and flavorful with a very drinkable bitterness level. Easily my favorite Pale lager to date, which I am following up a few days after having Kiwi Rising also by Jacks Abby. I will continue to support this brewery for sure.

16 oz bottle poured into Spiegelau glass

A: Straw colored with a slight haze billowy white head laces on the glass like crazy

S: light lemon with some herbal smell and light cracker

T: hoppy with a very light crisp taste a little bit of bitterness on the end with some crackery taste

M: Nice full feel to the mouth

O: This is very nice essay drinking beer I think it lacks a little in the flavor department but it's crisp refreshing and has a very rich full mouthfeel which was very surprising

Bottle might have been old, but wasnt impressed with the flavor. Everything we had on tap from Jacks Abby was great. This was lacking any flavor or aroma at all.

Consumed 12/31/14

A: Lightly hazy, honey colored with some tangerine highlights - pours with a medium to large size fluffy head, fades to a nearly solid cap and leaves lots of lacing

S: Citra and calypso apparently play nice together - fruity, tropical, and dank - citrus, but that's only part of the equation - grapefruit, mango, pineapple, apple, pear, melon, and kiwi - herbal, leafy, and lightly grassy with some dank qualities - mild yeasty notes and some pale malts

T: Clean and consistently interesting - like a hoppy fruit punch (minus the absurdity of that phrase) - orange and grapefruit flesh, pear, apple, kiwi, pineapple, mango, melon, and other light fruits - lightly herbal, with some nice pine and some nice mint - very clean - low to medium level of bitterness - some Jack's Abby lager yeast flavor - pale malts, grains, and some bread at the base

M: On the lighter side of medium, nicely carbonated, extremely smooth and easy drinking with a clean finish

O: I would have called it "Citralypso"

This is a weird combination of hops that creates an interesting spectrum of fruit flavors. I definitely like it, and I would try it again!

500 ml bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: A two finger head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a hazy golden yellow color with some vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Lemon, grassy, citrus, toasted, grainy, pale malts, lager yeast.

Taste: A nice blend of above aromas and malts with tingly bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, crisp, refreshing, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, some bitterness, and a little chewy.

Overall: I like how this series is going. Keep it up boys.

Bottled 03 Oct 2014, picked up at Julio's.

A clear yellow with a dense, white head with excellent retention and nice lacing, this looks great. The nose is great. Very fruity, a blend of citrus and melons, I get a blend of milder citrus (sweet limes, satsumas) and ripe honeydew and maybe Crenshaw melon? A slight spicy, peppery kick is present as well. Malt character is absent, this is dry as a bone with a very simple profile, allowing the hops to shine. A mild pine character is present as well, along with a bitterness reminiscent of green grape skins.

The palate opens bright, clean and fruity with the Citra hops dominating, lending their tropical and pine characteristics, along with the more delicate melony notes. Pine, orange, lemongrass, melon, mango and papaya are all present. Light in body with a crisp, cracker-like malt backbone, this beer has moderate carbonation which allows the hop flavor to shine. Supple with a pleasant oiliness, this feels great on the palate. An excellent beer

On-tap 12/1/2014 at British Beer Company in Walpole, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains nice floral hops, citrus, lager yeast and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a strong but not over-powering hops presence. Then some breadiness comes in from a hearty but not too heavy malt character and lager yeast. There’s a mild citrus sweetness that brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a nice hoppy lager to drink for a long time.

Lasting head that leaves a blanket of lace. Very hazy--almost white to the dirty gold color.

Lots of citrusy, hop nose. Dry.

Raw bitterness up front through the long aftertaste. Quite spicy, almost like red pepper flakes. Full bodied.

Had a draft of this delicious IPL and found it to be nicely carbonated, well balanced and not overly hopy. Full of citrus flavors I definitely tasted some orange in with the lemon and grapefruit. Definitely worth trying if you can get your hands on some!

A: Pours opaque golden yellow. one finger head which dissapates quickly.

S: Phenomenal nose. Citrus, tropical fruit. Hints of grapefruit and lemon. Light grassy

T: Same as nose but even better some how.

M: Crisp and refreshing. Almost no bitterness, very smooth.

O: Overall, excellent brew from Jack's Abby. Great hop flavor without the hop bitterness usually associated with this much flavor. Looking forward to the rest of the hopstitution series.

Growler bought at Nathaniel Square Corner Store. The 3rd batch of this, I believe- Calyptra, hopped with Calpso and Citra hops.

Pours a vigorous golden yellow, with beautiful visible carbonation, and a 2 inch head. Lots of lacing.

Smelled this out of the growler and proclaimed "holy shit." This really is one of the best smelling hoppy beers I've ever had- smells like candied pineapple, orange, and some grass.

The taste is pretty good, but doesn't quite match up. Slighty catty and grassy, with some orange and pineapple. Medium bitterness lingers on the palate.

Light bodied, lots of carbonation, very drinkable and crushable.

A great hoppy lager, this one smells amazing and tastes pretty good. I poured 3 glasses from the growler, it did get better the more I drank it.

On tap at New York Pizza. Pours a translucent dark yellow with an inch of head. Tons of lacing. The aroma is a big whiff of tropical and citrus fruits. Some light malt notes too, but mainly its the fruity hops. The taste is bitter citrus and tropical fruits upfront. Toasted malts with a bitter citrus peel finish. Some floral and grassy notes as well. Lots of carbonation with a bit of an oily mouthfeel. Overall, solid hoppy Lager I'll grab again.

A-Pours a cloudy straw color. Well poured; about a half inch of creamy, white fluff. Long ribbons of lace.

S-Relatively subtle. The hops deliver in their complexity. Fruity hop aromas that remind me of apricots and unripened citrus. Grains and a crackery aroma.

T-More distinct. I get a bunch of graininess but the hops don't let up either. Crisp, dried grain along with slightly sweet wafer. Signature Jack's Abby yeast (the fulcrum of their consistency). And, of course, the hops. Citra and Calypso offer a unique tandem of flavor. Dried apricots, grass, non-grapefruit citrus flavor (more like tangerine). A little bit of earthy hops.

M-Ligt, crisp, refreshing, mild bitterness. No booze. Complemented my meal very well.,this, would complement any meal, I bet.

O-While not one of their standouts, this is another tasty treat from the Le Abby de Framingham.

Bottled on 6/02/14, so very fresh. Hope I like this more than the other one I had, although it was good, I just had higher expectations.

Pours a nice creamy fluffy 1 finger head that fades slowly as it's reinforced by many streaming bubbles from the etch at the center, quite clear slight chill haze golden pilsner like almost honey color. Lots of sticky lacing.

Nose is a lot more like I expected, fresh hops, mild grassy earthy little terroir like, but with that is a nice fruity aroma, a little tropical fruit with mild citrus, mango, papaya like, very faint hint of grapefruit, and general tropical fruit notes, and even a hint of banana. Very slight touch of lager malt under that.

Taste brings more hops out front, again the mix of a mild grassy floral note and some fruity flavors. Touch of earthy grassy hops, mild floral and almost kiwi like terroir notes, into the tropical fruit, not really a specific one more generic, maybe hint mango and papaya, into a juicy grapefruit, and little citrus note. A mild lager base, with hint of fluffy malt, and crisp lager flavors. As it moves towards the finish the bitterness ramps, and a zesty orange peel bitterness and grapefruit pith really come through, little spicy hop as well, and gets very spicy and chewy hop profile on the finish, fairly crisp and quite dry.

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, nice fluffy carb, nice crisp lager feel.

Overall pretty nice, about what I expected the last Hopstitution to be, but either that was not very fresh, or just a bad batch perhaps as this seemed more like what they and everyone else described. Quite nice, enjoyable, good hop profile, nice light lager base with dry crisp finish that lets the hops stand out, and they don't got overboard. Although, the finish gets a bit too bitter and spicy.

Picked this up at Julio's. Bottled on 06/02/14 so yah, super fresh!

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice crystal clear light golden hue with a good thumb thickness white head that faded to leave sticky side lacing and a nice creamy blanket. Very, very solid.

S - Aromas of very light tropical notes, faint earthiness, faint lager notes. The Calypso hops are really, really nice with a good pear like aroma. Just wish there was more POW as the aromas are all a bit on the faint side.

T - Taste is more of the fleeting tropical notes with light grapefruit, soft grassy notes too and some resinous bitterness. There is more of a melon/pear like flavour poking through at the end that is very pleasant. Alcohol is basically nonexistent. That grassy pear really lingers on the finish that is nice.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, bright, crisp. Alcohol hidden.

O - Overall, a very tasty APL here. Like what the Calypso hops brought to the table with that underlining melon/pear. Well done.

Pours a light straw color, a bit hazy and a nice, modest head. The smell is fantastic. I was not expecting it to be so strong and deliciously hoppy! The taste doesn't quite live up, but it's still very good. Like other beers I've had from them, it's only in the taste that you can tell you're drinking a lager and even then, you can forget. This tastes like a great IPA, with a bit of lagery aftertaste. Body is good and overall, a very solid beer. I'd drink this regularly if it were available.

No bottling date, hops listed (there's a spot on the label but it's empty), ABV listed, nada. Man, Jack's Abby is really slacking lately. Regardless, this was just released last week so it's pretty fresh.

A: Pours a clear pale straw. Very tall, very effervescent offwhite head. Great head retention and loads of lacing everywhere.

S: Nice sharp tropical fruit aroma. Sweet fruits really. I've never smelled calypso hops but this has sort of a dry pear aroma which I think must be it? The citra shines mostly, I feel. Some light crackery malt too.

T: Tropical fruits initially and then loads of spicy, spicy pine. I get that pear again, poking through in some places. Pear is a bit stronger towards the finish when the citra has faded. Again with the crackery malt in the finish too, light and crisp when combined with the pear. Lingering spicy and dank pine with more hints of pear. Quite dry and bitter aftertaste. Well attentuated, I think.

M: Light, dry, crisp and refreshing. I'm not sure the ABV on this one but I'm guessing 5-6%.

O: Interesting hop combo. It's basically a citra IPL but with some pear poking its neck out here and there. It adds a nice layer of complexity and helps keep this from being a little one-note, even if it's somewhat subdued compared to the spiciness and tropical fruitiness of the citra. Tasty and refreshing. My only real knock is that the citra dominates a little too completely.
