Pour at the taproom.
Black body, looked opaque when presented to light. Slight tan head. Not much for lacing.
Aroma of dark malts, coffee, and chocolate.
Multiple tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted marshmallow, and sweet cream. Seemed like vanilla is there too. Initially sweet taste, slight bitter addition midway.
Medium and creamy mouth feel.
Steel Toe calls this a 'strong dark ale'. It tastes different from what I expected, with the sweet, creamy, dark chocolate tastes with the heavy coffee influence. A very tasty beer, but the higher ABV is there for the rather dry feel at the end. Three years between brewing batches.

A: Black with a dark brown head that dies off really quick.
S: Freshly ground dark roast coffee. A bit of dark roasted malt coming through, but coffee dominates. Some smokiness too.
T: Dark roast coffee up front followed by roasted, bittersweet chocolate malts. Some sweetness coming through, followed by some hops and more roasted bittersweet chocolate malts. Finishes with a nice lingering bittersweet taste with coffee.
M: Fuller body, softer carbonation. Fairly smooth.
O: Not the biggest coffee beer fan, but this is one of the best ones I've had. Hard to explain, but something is different with the coffee aspect of it, maybe the steeping of the coffee beans? Abv is hidden extremely well.
