Built on the success of our previously available Brewers Evolution Series Pils, we made some tweaks to get this Pilsner right where we wanted it. Brewed in a traditional process, using 100% imported German malt, and only the finest noble hops. Exemplifying the crisp, crackery malt base, with a distinct hop character. Our classic interpretation is our continuation toward a semi-regular lager brewing program.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear yellow, big head.

Smell: Mild sweetness, hint of grass.

Taste: Mild bread, then some mild grassiness to balance it out. Nice bready undertone. Finishes dry, easy drinking.

Overall: A very good pilsner from one of my favorite locals. Very balanced flavor, definitely not a super hopped craft pilsner. Good drinking beer for summer or anytime!

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, light golden color with a moderate white head. SRM of 5. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of pale malt, smooth bread milk, light floral notes. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of pale malt, bread malt, grains. A Floral and bitter finish. Balanced. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-body, strong carbonation. Balanced, clean, and bitter. (4.25)

Compared to Fair State Pils 10/2023: Pours clearer, milder head. Similar aromas. Slightly more smooth bread malt and less bitterness. Quite similar overall.
11/2023: Pours lighter, milder head. More floral/citrus. Less smooth. More bitter.
7/2024: Pours similar. More lemon sweetness. Less floral notes. Similar bitterness.

to Arbeiter HAHA Pils 7/24: Pours identical. Milder aromas. Less lemon citrus and bitterness. More soft bread malts and yeast. Softer and less bitter. Winner: Arbeiter

to Humble Forager Pinseeker Pils 7/24: Pours identical. Similar aromas. Less floral and yeast. More smooth lemon and bread.

to Modist Just You Wait 8/24: Pours darker, milder head. Similar aromas. Less nutty, earthy, bitterness. More lemonflower.

to Surly Hell 8/24: Milder head. Milder aromas. More smooth bread notes. Less lemonflower. Winner: Surly

to Bad Weather Pils 8/24: Pours identical, similar aromas. Less fruity yeast. More sweet lemon bread. Sweeter.

to Summit Twin Pils 9/24: Pours identical, milder aromas. More smooth bread. Less bitter and floral notes.

Overall: Actually quite spectacular German Pils with some balance but also strong bitterness as a German Pils should have. Very similar to Fair State with slightly more balance and less bitterness. Hard to distinguish between the two though. This one may be more bitter and even better. Very impressed. (Rating: 4.18)

12oz can. Stamped canning date is '05/12/21'.
Clear, pale gold colored body. One finger of white head, which sticks around. Rings of lacing on the non-drinking side.
Aroma of lightly toasted malts and noble hops which are grassy, with a slight fruit smell.
Taste is sweet malt and lemon/melon fruit hops. Grassy hops in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Somewhat dry. Very good carbonation.
A drier pilsner with a balance of hops and malt.

12oz can with a canning date of 05/12/21.

Clear pale straw color with a dense 1/4" of settled head. Aroma of Noble hops that are grassy and a bit of lemon and pepper. Flavor is not what I expected. It is a tad sweet with a hint of honey along with the cracker malt. Hops are just complimentary that adds some grassy notes. Not as lively carbonated as most of the style and not to my preference. Feels like a bigger than 5.5% ABV.

16 oz pour split with my brother at the brewery. Pours a straw yellow with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is biscuity malt with grassy/floral hops. Taste is similar but too bitter and the mouthfeel is somewhat astringent.

Rated this a long time ago but didn’t review it…so after dropping by the tap room (May 2022) and enjoying one of these, figured I’d leave a review…changes the rating a little bit — higher for the taste, lower for the feel.

Anyway: looks great in the glass, a bright glowing yellow gold, with a modest head and retention (for the style). Nose is fairly pungent floral, herbal, and grassy hops, with some slightly heavy bready/grainy malt. Taste matches the nose…there is definitely (also) some spice of some kind in there, and maybe some citrus. It is a little heavy and almost sticky (for the style,) to me…that’s the only drawback. The flavors, the body, and the mouthful are really full, substantial, and robust. Some lively bitterness at the end, but not too much. Enjoyable pint!
