Split a 16 oz pour with my brother at the brewery. Not a ton of whiskey character, but lots of chocolate and coffee with some citrus/piney hoppiness. Tasty and easy to drink at just 7% abv. I wish I had purchased a bottle of this to take home.

On tap at brewery, really looked forward to this one , pour was dark with a tan head , smell of whiskey and roasted malts some chocolate, taste was very subdued The BA was very thin the base beer was thin overall just a plain tasting brew, watery mouth feel with just a touch of BA, had high hopes for this one and it fell short

Strong bourbon, vanill, and overwhelming alcoholic heat.

Poured black with 1/2 inch tan head. Scent of chocolate and light whiskey. Beer hand nice flavors but really lacked solid whiskey flavor. Came up a bit plain.

On tap:
Subdued general whiskey nose, not much else
Taste was the same subdued watered down whiskey taste, base beer doesn't add much
Mouthfeel was thin
Overall a good attempt but a huge letdown from what I come to expect out of steel toe.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter
Poured black with a half inch khaki head. Moderate retention.
Smells of dark malts a barrel. The classic roasted notes with vanilla and hints of coconut.
Follows the nose. Great barrel flavors take center stage, but you don't get the booze and alcohol of the big BA stouts.
A bit thin, but very drinkable. It is a bit strange having so little mouthfeel from a BA beer. Modest carbonation. Coats the mouth well for being so small.
Overall, this impressed with the amount a barrel flavor, while maintaing the drinkability of the original. I would definitely order this again. Cheers!
