this may be a double listing, as i think all drama queen is aged in red wine barrels, although i guess i could be wrong. in any event, its a decent beer, not as interesting on the fermentation side of things as i was hoping for and anticipating, but the beer is full flavored and quite drinkable for its strength, dry and nicely carbonated. the barrels add a lot, i taste the fruitiness of the grapes themselves, quite a bit of oak with soft vanilla and tannins, and then the wine, which is bold here and makes the beer seem like it would be missing something if this element were gone. there is a little brett in here, but it tastes young, i had it on tap, but perhaps it is more developed in the bottles. a little stinky element to it, a little tang thats kind of out of place, but a neat belgian saison ester profile too that really works, pear and even white wine notes to it, and plenty of wheat malt coming through giving it an earthy and substantial foundation. overall a little below expectations, but the first new one i have had from these guys in awhile and pretty successful overall, just not as wild and interesting as i think it could and maybe should be...

Hazy gold color. Has a very faint orange/citrus smell. Tastes just the way it smells, very little aftertaste. Though higher in ABV, I could almost describe it as a lighter yet slightly fruitier version of Spotted Cow from New Glarus.

Very subtle taste and aroma but still very good. Hides the alcohol very well.
