12 oz bottle, 2018. Pours clear straw gold with a small fizzy head that quickly disappears.
The aroma is very subdued - some tart fruit and a little green pepper.
The flavor is mild tart fruity sour with a slight spicy finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and a little watery.
Overall, an OK mild fruity sour with a little kick.

Look - Nice clear yellow/gold color. 1 finger head upon pour, but died quickly - but some bubbles continued with a foam ring that never quite went away
Smell - tart fruit, bread, biscuit, some citrus
Taste - I was really surprised by this one. I liked that there was a decent zing upfront, but not a powerful lemon/vinegar sour punch. This is described as a Berliner Weiss on their website so less sourness is expected (label calls it a sour). It has a nice vegetable - earthy - richness that comes in quickly along with some tart fruit. There is some caramel / bready / malt for a brief second or two. There is some complexity to this one (must be the tomatillos) that I found really interesting.
Feel - lighter bodied but close to the medium level I would say. Carbonation is pretty low, but then again a sour/Berliner Weiss typically is.
Overall - I bought this as a single, but I am going to go back to the liquor store and grab a 6 pack. This was light and refreshing, but yet full of flavor and quite interesting. The idea came from an employee in the taproom for this one - Great Idea! I bought this as a single because I thought "no way is this one going to be very good" but enjoy weird / off-the-wall brews (like so many from Dog Fish Head). I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a CRAZY sour beer that makes you pucker, then this is not for you, but if you enjoy Berliners and lower end sours, pick this one up and give it a try!!!

Pours a hazy gold color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Poor retention and poor lacing. Smells of slight bacterial funk, slight wheat, slight sweet malt, and a hint of citrus. Fits the style of an American Wild Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight bacterial funk, slight wheat, slight sweet malt, slight floral hops, slight pale malt, and a hint of citrus. Overall, weak appearance and aroma, but good blend and body.

Thanks to hop hound for this unique drinking experience.
It's somewhat sour, yet definitely showing off the tomatillo. If you love what tomatillos bring to salsa, I do, and you're a sour fan, this is a must try. So unique, and still tasty.
