Oak aged sour golden ale brewed with heavy additions of pear and peach puree resulting in a full bodied, pleasantly effervescent, refreshingly tart ale. The two fruits work in harmony, as aromas of peach pie and fresh pear swirl from the glass. The tart complexity of the sour golden marries with ripe fruit flavors that bust forth with every sip. Enjoy.

750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Had 7/11/19.
Pours a shockingly bright golden orange, clear, with only a brief flash of a head, and light, spotty cling. Smells lightly tart and sour. Aromas of peaches, some pears, white grapes, white wine, some oak, light malt, a generally spicy aroma, black pepper when fully warmed. The taste is also lightly tart and sour at first, a little more as it warms. Flavors of pears, wine, white grapes, peaches, malt, spices, some oak. Smooth, a very good light to medium body, well carbonated.
The peaches and pears do star, and I’m impressed with any beer that can actually make pears stand out. I don’t pick up as much oak as others seem to. Not very sour, but nicely balanced. Very enjoyable.

750ml bottle. Caged and corked bottle. Bottling date code is '01616-17'.
Cloudy, deep gold colored body with a tint of peach. No real head that stays, but there is a thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma of peach and pear, oak barrel, and sour.
Taste of sour peach and pear, and with the oak barrel providing a dry finish. There is a bit of funk towards the end, with the pear trailing off in the aftertaste.
Thin to medium mouth feel. Sour and dry overall.
This has a very good fruit combination of peach and pear, with both being individually identified. The fruit is ripe, and the smell and taste is sour. Not too complex but would act as a refreshing hot weather sipper.

750ml bottle served in a little Cantillon glass. Cellar Series 2017. Don't see any other dates or batch information on it. But, there is a little sticker showing the ABV at 9.0%.
Pours a clear golden with no head and medium to light carbonation. Smell is tart and apricotty. Taste is fairly mild, mostly fruity, seems to lose most of the tartness I smelled. More bitterness comes through.
Mouthfeel is smooth, dry, light. Overall, not bad.

$ 12.53 (Including shipping)/750 mL cork and cage bottle ($ 0.494/oz) from Tavour, Seattle, WA.
Label marked 03966-17 and 2017, stored at 42 degrees and served at 54 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Bottle opens with a soft “POP” and no overflowing.
Appearance – 3.
Body – Gold, slightly chill haze, minimal effervescence.
Head – Small (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive pour), white, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to a temporary one mm ring.
Lacing – None.
Pour – Light gold, clear.
Aroma – 3 – Hint of generic fruit.
Flavor – 3 - Begins slightly fruity with old weak peach. No pear. No oak. No malt, no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl. Ends slightly tart, but probably more from the oak than the souring process.
Palate – 3.5 - Medium, bordering on syrupy, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 3 – It’s bad when the best thing about a beer is its non-offensive feel. The appearance is nice – gold, clear, and otherwise bland. The pears and peaches have had their delightful aromas pureed into one generic, barely noticeable, fruity mess. The flavor suffers the same fate as the aroma – not even the submerged oak can save it. Only the palate stands out – the medium body (unexpected for a wild ale) nicely balances the softly carbonated syrupiness. Not that this is a bad brew, it’s just pretty average overall and is at least easily drinkable. Compare this to most wild ales from Jester King with equivalent price points to see what this could have been.

Dark amber with no head. 3.75
Flowers, herbs, and a ton of apricots. 4
Honey, some herb oil, lemon zest, touch of tartness, all the orchard fruits and maybe some almond skin. 3.75
Medium, sticky, round. 4
A ton of fruit! No sour, no wood, but… fruit! Nice, but cloys a bit. “A continental breakfast beer, not a full fry.” 3.75

Had it on tap in a tall pint glass. Golden color, good head and lacing. Very fragrant sour apple and pear smell and taste. Bright and refreshing taste and feel. Taste was pleasantly fruit and included peaches, apricots, and some sour cherry. A nice beer!

a really neat oak aged peach and pear sour beer. tons of innovation from odell lately, and this one is really good. its probably about as natural as o have tasted pear in beer, at least in one that features it this prominently. its not perfumey or skinny or forced at all, it just tastes like the ripe fruit. i would almost prefer this without the peaches, not because the peaches arent just as delicious, they are, and the fusion with the pear is great, but because so few good peary beers exist out there that it would be cool to experience them in isolation here, maybe they will do a deconstructed version someday. i like how much oak and white wine i get here, it mellows some of the acidic tartness here, and i think sets up the fruit in a wonderful way. the fruit is fresh and ripe to me, not too sweet, fermented down just enough, but definitely the driving force here. a little weirdness to the souring, slightly butyric in the nose or something, funky in a strange way, but clean by the end. peach lingers longer than anything else, good acidity, very summery beer and about as fruit forward as i would want it to be. i bet this one gets even better with some age on it! nice to see odell back to making really exciting beers!
