Pours a slightly cloudy bright yellow with a generous white head that recedes gradually, leaving solid lacing. Aroma is a mix of tropical and citrus fruits. Flavor follows the nose with only a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Feel is sticky and medium bodied. Overall a delicious beverage that could use just a touch more bitterness.

This runs $13.67 a sixer in Austin, TX. I dug rupture, so I had to pick this up.

APPEARANCE: Pours a hazy orange-copper body. Head is ~10cm in height, fluffy, soft, and white. Head retention is quite good for the ABV - ~6-8 minutes.

AROMA: Melon, guava, subdued peach, hints of floral and tropical hop notes. 2-row pale malt balances out any bitterness, but the aroma is rather timid overall for an imperial IPA; I guess I expected a bit more pungency and boldness.

TASTE: Timid indeed for an IIPA, not bringing enough to the table in terms of hop pungency and depth of flavour. It subdues its alcohol warmth but doesn't bring enough hop flavour to justify its ABV in the first place. Soft peach, floral notes, guava, faint nectarine, hints of vague tropical fruit. Guava is the main flavour but it isn't interesting enough to keep me invested.

Balanced but pretty muted for the intended style.

TEXTURE: Soft, smooth, wet, refreshing, medium-bodied, a bit oily.

Some warmth does flare up right on the finish, but for the most part it doesn't feel hot alcohol-wise.

OVERALL: I hoped for an imperialized version of Rupture, but this ain't that. Just another IIPA with ill enough hop pungency...not something I ever thought I'd get from Odell. In a market flooded with low bitterness (I)IPAs, I hoped to lean on Odell as an old standby for the way things were and should be...instead, they're catering to the Johnny-come-lately turbid IIPA crowd with this imitation of what other breweries do better. It's certainly drinkable, but when there's nothing interesting going on hopwise and you're not committing to your hop flavours, there's not much reason for consumers to revisit your beer.

12 oz can best by 7/13/19 (canned 3/13/19) poured into New Belgium snifter.

Gold honey color with a fluffy creamy head of 2 fingers, leaving tons of lace as it recedes to a thick ring.

Aromas of freshly cut pineapple - pleasantly funky/stinky and all, guava, honeydew, more tropical fruit - just a huge freshly cut tropical fruit BOMB!! Slight malt.

Flavor also brings bright tropical fruit into the equation - it starts out a little empty, and then the flavors develop with pineapple, watermelon, honeydew, lime, kiwi, slight orange and even slighter grapefruit.

Feel is creamy and is on the milder side of carbonated, but brings a nice resiny presence towards the end that doesn't get too intrusive. Lingering oils once the beer is down the throat.

Overall an incredible signature fresh grind ale from Odell, well worth the $15/6 pack price tag. Even though I personally rated this higher, I'd say I do enjoy Rupture as a general beer more - I can have 3-4 of those in a sitting before I'm tired of it, this one would probably top out at 2 before I move onto something different. In spite of my easily fatigued palate, this beer delivers big time, and is mega delicious.

Slightly hazy pour, clear yellow body.
Nose is stonefruit with tropical hints.
Taste delivers a DIPA that hits the spot with fresh cone hop flavor and tropical fruit/ peach. There’s an earthiness that’s dripping in sweetness.
Feels full and creamy, finishes peppery.
I’d have this again on occasion.
