A funny thing happens here around summer’s end—our eyes start searching the skies for those first fall flakes. As we welcome autumn’s first snow, we celebrate the return of Isolation Ale—a sweet-caramel malty ale balanced by a subtle crisp hop finish. Whether you ski, shred, or shoe, it’ll inspire you to make first tracks.

12oz bottle purchased at Pilgrim’s in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for $1.89. According to the label, I should have drank this by March 1st . Oops. Well, at least I know it’s been refridgerated the last 3-4 months.
Poured into a “Summer’s Here Brewfest” nonic pint glass, this was a dark, reddish amber color, with a big, fluffy, off-white head that left lots of lace on the sides of the glass.
Piney hop notes and toffeeish malt scents. As it warms, the malts come out to play more, at the expense of the hops.
Mildly spicy, the flavor hints at gingerbread, but not to a cloying extent. While malt forward, with spicy and sweet, toffeeish notes, there’s a enough of a bitter, hoppy bite to keep things balanced and more interesting than might otherwise be the case. There’s a little bit of honeyish flavor about midway through the taste. Mildly dry at the swallow.
Medium bodied, with a lightly coating mouthfeel.
Decent, but understated flavor, and very drinkable. For a 6% beer, it seems almost sessionable. Maybe it’s lost a little oomph while sitting behind a bunch of high-gravity monsters in my fridge, but if so it’s managed to age fairly gracefully. I would drink this again, though I’ll make sure it’s fresher next time!

Brown in color with a fingernail of brown on top. The aroma is of caramel and toffee. I’m tasting caramel and toffee. The mouth is dry and lightly sticky.

Normally an IPA guy but stumbled into this. I normally don’t like winter style beers but this is actually pretty legit because it’s not overly heavy or spiced. Caramel smell and taste without being overly sweet and beautiful caramel color. Very good.

Isolation Ale pours dark amber with a big, long-lasting, tan head. The aroma is spice and heavy malty. The flavor has a big spice, rich caramel notes, dark cereal base. Good body and feel. Overall, very flavourful and perfect for a cold night.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a dark amber caramel color with a small head of off-white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rather strong of a caramel malt and toasty brown bread. Along with these aromas comes some smells of toffee and a little bit of a spice.
Taste – The taste begins with a lightly toasted bready malt flavor that is mixed with flavors of caramel and toffee. These are the base flavors of the brew and last throughout the taste profile. There is a little bit of a grainy taste that develops as the taste moves forward. Along with these flavors there is a little bit of a spice and some light herbal and pine hops, which develop as well, leaving one with a rather malty, but overall balanced taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly more thick and chewy for the abv, with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the more malty nature of the brew the feel is good and makes for a rather easy sipper.
Overall – A rather decent winter ale. Good and malty with an overall balanced taste.

Pours a clear bright copper an off white head and sme spotty lacing. Nose gets some caramel and bread, taste buds get that also. A bit on the thin side, continously rising carbonation. Nice beer.
