On tap at the brewery.
A: Pours a deep, clear ruby red color. A two finger white head forms with rings of lace. This is a looker.
S: Toasted and bready malts. Sweet caramel malts, and lightly bitter in the finish. Enjoyable, if a bit pedestrian.
T: Again, I would say a bit pedestrian. Not to say that is bad, but not close to the depth of more authentic English examples. Toasted malts, a light graininess, sweet caramel malts, and a bit of bitter grassy hops in the finish. Simple, and for the most part enjoyable, but missing that extra something for me.
M/D: A light to medium body. Well carbonated with a crisp effervescent bite. Smooth at the same time. Easy and really enjoyable to drink. I have had this on several occasions at the brewery. Goes well with the fish & chips.
Really, an enjoyable beer. Maybe this would be better served on cask, but as is not on the level of really good ESB's. Still something I have looked forward to the lest few times I have been at the brewery. Just enjoyable, if nothing exceptional.
