Appearance: Poured with a thumb's worth of head that did not lace or stick around very long. The body however is better with a slightly cloudy brass body that shows steady carbonation.
Smell: Smells of lemon and fruity apricot yeast which required a decent amount of warming to come out. Once it warms up the potency is there, but until then you don't catch much.
Taste: Very lemon forward, as it permeates the beer, and frankly needs to be reigned it. It starts at the begining with a bit of bread malt and then seems to joint a beer sour note, but oddly enough runs in paralell in a fashion where you can even get a bit of bitter pith before as it ends with a snap of dry fruity apricot yeast.
Mouthfeel: That dry snap at the end is a nice touch as it reigns in the sour note, leaving a much milder more lemon candy vibe as an aftertaste. The carbonation is good, as is the transitioning, but to be honest, so much of this beer is just drowned out by being sour.
Drinkability: Well it masterfully conceals its slightly higher ABV but given how sour it is, that dry snap at the end somewhat holds it back as a summer drinker. Very light bodied, but not quite as complex as I'd like it to be.
Final Thoughts: If this beer was branded as a sour instead of a blonde ale, it would have fared better, but a Blonde Ale this does not come across as. There's nothing wrong with the beer (at least I hope not) it's just not what I expected from a Blonde Ale and not quite as diverse enough if the intent was for this to be a sour.
