The folks at Beertown Public House have teamed up with Sawdust City, Third Moon, and their all-time favourite beer geeks (Shoutout Terry & Emma) to bring you "Bone Pine". We've merged the hop bill of a West Coast IPA with the malt body of a New England IPA to create a soft, yet hazy IPA with an incredible luscious body.
Fermented with Foggy London, This IPA is built on a bed of 2-Row and Oat Malt with additions of Simcoe, Chinook, Columbus & Summit Hops.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned April 22/25. My fifth beer from the Gravenhurst, Ontario brewery, and third for 2025. With both cats Gracie and Sundae...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 22 2025 and served barely chilled.
Pours a hazy, turbid golden-yellow colour, with more than two fingers of billowing, foamy white erupting from the surface. Excellent retention - nearly ten minutes later, it has been reduced to a lumpy cap and a generous collar of suds. Fantastic lace deposition, too. Mellow aroma of bready, crackery malts, tangerine, grapefruit, berries and piney, herbal, spicy hops.
Interesting flavour profile: low bitterness & flavour intensity, but very nuanced and quite well-balanced. I'm getting pink grapefruit, passion fruit and orange, with hints of berries, green mango and spicy, herbal hops. Hints of pine resin and earthy, spicy hop bitterness at the finish, with a citrusy, acidic aftertaste that doesn't persist. On the fuller side of medium-bodied, with potent carbonation that remains active well into the session, adding plenty of prickliness to this brew's smooth, pillowy-soft mouthfeel. Highly crushable for 6.5%.
Final Grade: 4.15, an impressive A-. Bone Pine is an excellent hybrid IPA that matches up well with this brewery's flagship Lone Pine, a west coast-style IPA that is an old favourite of mine. As a hybrid or 'bicoastal' IPA, Bone is considerably less bitter, but quite a bit more balanced and drinkable than Lone - I personally prefer a bitter westie in most instances, but during the dog days of summer, I can see the appeal of a more even-handed pale ale, such as this one. Well worth trying if you can find it fresh, and hopefully Sawdust City will see fit to brew another batch in the near future.
