473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 16 2023 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a hazy pale orange-yellow colour with a slight pinkish blush; more than an inch of foamy, soapy white head erupts from the surface, melting away over the next several minutes. A frothy collar lives on, with a few far flung flecks of lace - looks alright. Ginger is immediately noticeable on the nose, with lime zest and lime-ade also coming through clearly. Hints of cranberry, grapefruit and floral hops are scarcely discernible amidst the spice and lime.

The flavours start off tart and fruity, finishing spicy and sour. Lime-ade, lime zest and cranberry juice at the forefront, with suggestions of grape and grapefruit. The ginger kicks in towards the finish, joined by lemony lactic sourness and a touch of earthy, herbal hop bitterness; lime zest and ginger dissipate into a *very* slightly boozy aftertaste. Medium in body, with average carbonation that adds some zip to this brew's smooth, somewhat fluffy texture. Easy enough to drink, but one is plenty for me, thanks.

Final Grade: 3.91, a solid B+. The base beer might have been a sour IPA, but with all of the additional ingredients, Tropical Storm Cranberry Mule really drinks more like a fruited (and spiced) kettle sour. I liked this more than their other Tropical Storm variants, but I have always had a fondness for ginger beer, giving this an obvious advantage over the others. Even still, I don't think it's something I'd really want to drink on a regular basis - I'd prefer a non-sour ginger beer ten times out of ten, but that's just me. Worth a look if the concept intrigues you.
