From notes
Appearance: No head, but the top shows carbonation, cloudy amber with crimson highlights for a body.
Smell: Toffee, wine, cherries and mild apricot with solid potency of which warming really brought out.
Taste: Toffee caramel to apricot, while grape and a verry that ends with more toffee and maybe mild bourbon vanilla. Good, but doesn't hide it's ABV.
Mouthfeel: Dry toffee aftertaste which is ok, great transisitoning and the carbonation is good, despite the lack of head. Again, doesn't hide that it's boozey.
Drinkabilty: Medium body which would be good if again it didn't come across as boozey to the taste. Settles well though despite that fact.
Final Thoughts: Odd spot for a Barleywine to be in, it certainly comes off as more approachable then most of the style, but you tend to want a bit more fancifulness from a Barleywine. Still, I think it fared well enough for a recommendation. That said, this made me look back at my review of regular Lone Wine and it seemed to fare better. I guess the bourbon aging is contributing too much booziness and not enough of it's own notes as well as killing the beer's head.
