Smoked malt is one of the more dubious tools in a brewer's bag because thresholds are vastly different. What to one palate is a hint of bacon or a whiff of BBQ to another is ashtray or Band-Aids. How can Carton ignore playing this game? Where can smoldering aromatics go off the beaten craft? In Peach Swisher we have reassembled the deconstructed aspects of a flavored blunt. Rich, dark malts rendered smoky by the addition of oak smoked pale wheat touched with peach and a heavy plug of the hops that smell like their cousins. Drink Peach Swisher and hand me down a 50-pack.

On tap at Gaslight.
LOOK: dark brown, almost porter dark, small creamy off white head.
AROMA: grilled peach. Maybe some blueberry. Light wood, light malted grains.
TASTE: brown sugar, peach, oily tanins, touch of wood.
FEEL: full bodied, thick and a little sticky.
Pretty nice.

Glass at brewery on 3/18/17. Cracked up at "Blunt ale" appellation. Pretty much as described: peach-flavored, smoky, earthy ale definitely somewhat reminiscent of a Swisher sweet. Light bodied, decently carbonated, and easy drinking.

I had this on draught at the brewery. It pours a dark brown akin to cloudy iced tea, with a thick foamy, ecru-colored head and elegant lacing. It smells of fresh peach, smoked malt, and a whiff of hops. It's quite fragrant. I enjoyed the taste: the peach is sweet but not cloying and it balances the smoked malt nicely. There is a blast of hoppy bitterness at the finish. This beer is medium-bodied with pleasant carbonation, and the moderate ABV of 6% allows for easy drinking. It's quite refreshing. I'm not a big fan of Rauchbier but I really enjoyed Peach Swisher!

FRESH OFF THE PRESS. PEACH PRESS.
A) Beautiful sudsy tan head over a porter-dark body, that stays and laces.
S) BIG, a 4.5 for size, smoke & peach, but over time the peach climaxes rather than recedes which mars it, as Peach in Beer, is like much fruit in beer - medicinal, cleaning fluild, air freshener.
T) Big like the taste. Too much of a mouthful of that peach flavor that feels like (in the late winter) that it came out of a bottle, of peach schnapps, or worse Peach syrup. So - as I dont like flavored coffee - so too with the peach. (Guided Lily with Black Truffles is an exception)
F) Not thick enough, never overcoming the bathroom in a smoke house feel, a bit cloying and cloudy vs cleansing.
This is the weakest Carton brew (a favorite brewer) but in line with Rauch and their brave experimentation.
Too much false peach, reminds me of our orange head Commander in Brief.
